Learning & Engagement
The RTHS Literacy program provides the opportunity for students to work on individually designed programs to improve the reading, writing and comprehension skills of all students in years 7 – 9. Students utilise the latest technology and techniques to engage with their lesson content. Lower student to teacher ratios in Literacy lessons enable all students to receive one-to-one support on a regular basis. At RTHS all students in years 7-9 have their Literacy knowledge and progress mapped to the NSW Literacy Continuum.
The Numeracy program provides targeted numeracy intervention for all students in year 8. Students work on individualised and self-paced programs that identify areas of weakness and receive explicit instruction to address this. Students are regularly assessed and their progress tracked.
Robert Townson High School's Learning Support team identifies and supports the academic needs of students with special learning needs and disabilities. Experienced teachers and student learning support officers provide assistance to students and their teachers in class and on an individual basis. The learning support team works with faculties to ensure that all students are able to access the school curriculum and achieve to the best of their abilities.
