Our Opportunities

Programs

A Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLSP) is developed for all students enrolled in the HIU. This plan identifies and supports each student’s needs in the areas of curriculum (Individual Learning Plan – ILP), adjustments, social/emotional needs and transition to post school options (Individual Transition Plan – ITP). Parents, students and teachers work together to develop these plans.

Some of the other programs we provide are:

Life skills programs

Students are able to participate in curriculum activities that are designed for pupils who have difficulties accessing the mainstream curriculum. Outcomes are based on individual student needs.

Work experience

This program provides individual pathways with future directions towards employment and it is a major focus for students in their senior years.

RTHS Campus Café

Our program helps to prepare students for their transition from school to work or further studies whilst providing them with the opportunity to learn valuable skills.

Travel training

Staff support students towards independent travel.

Performing arts

School Spectacular (dance), Shining Stars (dance), Drumming (Deaf Festival)

Excursions

Give students the ability to access the wider community in order to gain knowledge and skills outside of an educational setting.

Community Access

Allows students to participate and integrate into all aspects of the wider community.
