Diversity Day

ROBERT TOWNSON HIGH SCHOOL DIVERSITY DAY

WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER, 2020

At Robert Townson High School, we have a diversity of students from a multicultural background that extends with over 44 different languages spoken at home, including our first nation Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Australians. The area known as Campbelltown City is located on the custodial lands of the Dharawal people and there are many reminders of their traditional and ongoing connection to the land, including Raby where our school is connected as close to what was known as "the Cowpastures" - an area near Campbelltown.

To celebrate our school’s diversity, we will be holding a special incursion at our school on Wednesday 9th December, 2020 to commemorate our inclusion of our diverse student population. Due to Covid 19, we missed out on celebrating significant International days, so we are World Diversity Day, IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia) with WORLD HEARING DAY. Mulit-coloured & House colour Accessories will be allowed to be worn (hats, scarves, socks, jewellery, hair bands, wigs over school clothing) on Wednesday 9th December, 2020 (National Costumes, such as, a Sari/Turban/Kimono). We will also be providing Souvlakia at lunchtime for $4.00 each, Rainbow Cupcakes for $2 or 2 for $3.00 each and ice blocks during lunchtime. The school will hold a special assembly to commemorate the event.

We welcome your support with our students to celebrate our schools’ diversity. If you do not wish your child to participate, please contact the school to either Principal Mr Luke Farthing or Ms M Makis via the school email address.

Kind regards,

Ms M Makis
