Wellbeing
At Robert Townson High School, student wellbeing and learning are deeply connected. We want every student to feel safe, supported and ready to learn each day. Whether a young person needs mental, emotional, social or physical support, our staff are committed to helping them thrive, both at school and in their daily lives.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is central to everyday life at Robert Townson High School. We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected.
We support wellbeing through:
- Caring teachers who help students feel welcome, included and valued
- Access to specialist staff, including school counsellors, school psychologists, Student Support Officers and wellbeing team members
- Programs that promote positive behaviour, strong attendance, health and social skills
- Support for students during key transitions, including starting Year 7 or changing classes or year levels
- Clear expectations for behaviour, safety and respectful relationships
- Strong partnerships with families, with staff who take the time to know every student
- Individual health care plans for students who require medical or personalised support
- Open communication, ensuring students and families know how to access help whenever it is needed

Stymie gives your child the power to say something
Stymie allows your child to send anonymous notifications about someone who they believe is being harmed. They can also ask about help for themselves.
Allowing them as bystanders to remain anonymous, gives them the courage to overcome the fears and social pressures that prevent them from speaking up. It also relieves feelings of helplessness if they want to help a friend but don’t quite know how.
Young people make notifications about all kinds of harm including self-harm, suicide ideation, bullying, illegal activity, sexual assault and family violence.
You can access Stymie here.
