As a community school, we take great pride in the support we offer all learners, including our long-established Hearing Impaired Unit, operating since 1989, which currently supports 35 students and has a proud tradition of achievement. In 2026, this will expand to become our Diverse Learning Unit, including the introduction of an Autism class, further strengthening our inclusive approach.

Continuity of Care and Wellbeing
Head Teacher Wellbeing (HT Wellbeing)
The HT Wellbeing leads a whole-school approach to student welfare, ensuring every young person feels safe, supported and ready to learn. They coordinate wellbeing programs, oversee support systems, and work closely with families, teachers, and external services to meet student needs.
Student Support Officer (SSO)
The SSO provides day-to-day wellbeing support for students, offering a friendly, approachable presence on campus. They help students build social skills, manage challenges, and stay engaged with school through practical assistance, check-ins, small-group activities and wellbeing programs.
Student Learning Support Officer (SLSO)
The SLSO's provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
School Counsellor / School Psychologist
The School Counsellor is available to support students with their emotional, social and learning needs. They provide confidential counselling, assessment, guidance, and referrals when needed. Counsellors work with families and staff to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club ensures every student can start the day well. Held on campus before school, it provides a free, healthy breakfast in a friendly environment. The program encourages attendance, builds connection, and supports students’ ability to learn.
Creating Chances
Creating Chances is a social enterprise in Australia that focuses on empowering young people through sport and positive youth development. They offer a Youth Development Pathway that includes various programs designed to build confidence, resilience, and life skills among students.
Peer Support Program
The Peer Support Program trains selected Year 10 mentors to support Year 7 students as they settle into high school. Through structured activities, the program builds friendships, confidence and a strong sense of belonging for new students.
Leadership Opportunities
Robert Townson High School provides a range of leadership pathways, allowing students to build confidence, communication skills and responsibility. These include formal roles such as school captains, house captains and peer mentors, as well as opportunities in sport, the arts, wellbeing and community events.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The SRC is a student-elected body that represents the voice of the student community. Members lead initiatives, organise events, and work with staff to improve the school environment. Participation builds teamwork, leadership and citizenship skills.
Tomorrow Man, Tomorrow Woman
The Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman programs are designed to create safe spaces for students to explore modern concepts of masculinity and femininity. They focus on breaking down traditional gender roles and encouraging open discussions about identity, emotions, and personal growth.
Pathways, Careers and Transition
The school’s Careers and Transition team supports students to plan for life after school. This includes career education, subject selection support, work experience, university and TAFE pathways, apprenticeships and traineeships. The program ensures students are informed, confident and prepared for their future goals.
