German

In German, students will explore Germany and Austria’s geography, cultural traditions and history as well as discover where the language is spoken throughout the world. They will learn about common German greetings and numbering systems. Students will be provided with opportunities to communicate their ideas by writing and speaking in German.

Integrated into these units will be several German / Austrian DVDs including some episodes of Inspector Rex (Kommissar Rex); Vorstadtkrokodile (Suburban Crocodiles) Nos 1, 2 & 3 about a group of young German teenagers and a 1980s war movie about a German submarine (“Das Boot”).

Apart from entertainment in the target language, these films are to give the students exposure to conversations in German at normal speed concerning a variety of different situations.
