Special Religious Education
At Robert Townson High School, Special Religious Education (SRE) is offered to students in accordance with the NSW Education Act (1990) and NSW Department of Education policies. SRE is delivered by approved providers who are authorised by their religious organisation and the Department of Education. Parents and carers indicate their preference for their child’s participation in SRE at enrolment, and may withdraw their child from SRE at any time by contacting the school.

At Robert Townson High School, we currently offer the following approved SRE options:

Muslim Mentoring (Islamic SRE) – Delivered by approved representatives from the Islamic community, this program provides students with the opportunity to learn about Islamic beliefs, values, and practices in a supportive and respectful environment. Delivered Weekly - Wednesday Period 2

Christian Studies (Christian SRE) – Delivered by approved Christian providers, this program provides students with the opportunity to learn about the Bible, Christian beliefs, and how these may guide personal values and ethical decision-making, this is provided by 'Baptist Union of NSW, Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW), Combined Christian Scripture - Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Baptist Union of NSW, Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW)'. Delivered fortnightly on a Friday, alternating periods.
Special Religious Education (SRE) – Updating Your Preferences
Parents and carers can change their child’s Special Religious Education (SRE) preference at any time.
If you would like to update your child’s SRE participation or preference, you can do so online through the NSW Department of Education’s Update Student Details portal.
